Vibrant colors

This year I bought a CSA share from a local farm. The plan was for this to lead to more healthy eating. So far it has twice led to spinach quiche, to wild salmon with fresh minted peas, and a three berry pie. The spinach, peas, mint, and strawberries were all part of my share in the first weeks. I also got chard, sugar snap peas, and romaine lettuce.

While I’m not sure that everything was quite as healthy as it could be, I know that I’m adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to my already produce-filled diet. I know that I’m helping to  support local agriculture. And each week I have the excitement of seeing what is new and fresh and vibrant. Today the local raspberries appeared!

So here is my just-past-the- fourth-of-July red, white and blue dessert. Raspberries are local and just picked; the blueberries are from my local produce mart. And the ice cream is . . . ice cream (low fat.)
